Inspiration for Tank Top

The challenge to make a “soft garment” out of sheet metal -- a hard, inflexible material -- was too much to pass up. I drew a sewing pattern onto flat steel.  I cut it out and stretched the pieces through big roller bars, and then pounded sections with hammers to form  feminine shapes, and welded the seams with metal “stitches.” The contrast of the soft lines, with the tough steel shirt, suits my split personality on some days.  Those are the days I wish I WERE wearing a TANK.
